The news feed reproduces the concept of a "thread": all documents are displayed as they are published.
You can return to it at any time by clicking on the word "NEWS" in the top banner. The dot under the word "NEWS" indicates that this is the active tab.
The news feed is divided into sub-tabs by type of document.
The "ALL" tab groups all types of documents. The "ALL" tab contains all document types, except for calendar events, which are not included in the feed.
The ALL list is special in that it contains photos grouped in albums. In order not to lose the news feed when many photos are validated, photos on the same subject are grouped together. This grouping is called an album. An album groups photos that share the same trislug or the same event, over a time window from (D-1 to 0h00) to (D+1 to 24h00) where D is the day currently being viewed in the feed (if you scroll, D is not necessarily the current day). If a photo cannot be grouped in an album, it is displayed alone.
trislug determination: first three words of the slug (in any order) once the keywords are extracted: FILES, TOPSHOT(S) and CORRECTION.
The "Articles" tab gives access to all articles stories, including partners' press releases.
Only certain partners are in this feed, the objective being not to exceed 10% of the average volume of AFP stories.
The "Photos" tab contains all AFP photos, as well as those of certain partners whose content is of the "news" type (Getty, for example).
The date displayed on a document is the date of creation of the content, i.e., the time of writing for a news item, or the time of shooting for a photo.
In the news feed, documents are sorted according to the date they were published. This is why a photo from 10 minutes ago may be placed after one from four hours ago, if the latter was validated by the editorial staff after the first one. If an archive photo is republished for news purposes (e.g., at the time of an anniversary or death), it may be found at the top of the news feed mosaic with the year 2015, or in the middle of photos from 10 minutes ago. However, this same photo will be found with the year 2015 in a search result.
The "Videos" tab contains all videos, including those of partners, as well as videographics.
The "Infographics" tab presents all fixed infographics. Dynamic infographics are not yet supported. In order to keep the proportion of each infographic and to allow the user to realise the relative dimensions, each one is displayed in 1/3 of the Retina size.
The "Social Stories" tab (ex-Packages) contains the AFP ready-to-publish vertical content.
The "Forecasts" tab (not yet developed) will group all the forecast or agenda documents whatever their nature.
The last selected tab in the news feed is automatically selected when you return to the news feed.
The last selected tab in the search result is automatically selected for any new search.
The viewers are open to the selection of an item in a list or in a mosaic.
In a viewer, the selected document or event is displayed in detail, with metadata depending on its nature.
It is from a viewer that the document can be acquired (in exchange for credits), consulted, copied, downloaded. The lower black banner, from which actions on the content are offered, is only displayed when the free or paying status of the document has been determined.
It is also in the viewer that the related content, if any, is displayed.
The document will be downloaded in the selected format(s).
File names begin with "AFP" and include key information such as the creation date the content was created, keywords and formats. This helps you quickly identify AFP documents among your uploaded files.
